It does not matter whether you’re using a push mower or riding lawn mower from time to time, you will always need to service your lawn mower. As long as you have the right tools you will be able to fix these things by yourself.
In most of the cases, the problems are pretty common. Some of these problems are highlighted below.
Starter rope is difficult to pull:
When this problem occurs, it is mostly due to the flywheel brake. You have to check the flywheel break in order to solve the problem.
In most of the cases, it will be pressed against the handle due to which the problem is caused. Another cause of the problem is the dragging of the blade on the ground.
In such a case, you have to attach the plate in the proper position before trying to pull it again. Also, you will find the way to solve this problem in the instruction manual as well.
Intermittent loss of power:
In many cases, the lawnmower starts stuttering and after a while loses all the power. In such a case, the most common cause is the unclean filter.
You have to refer the instruction manual to find out how to clean the filter. You have to follow that procedure before trying to start the lawnmower.
In case, the filter is clean, then the cause might be the improper cutting height of the lawnmower.
If the cutting height of the lawnmower is set to a lower level and the size of the grass is more, you have to select the right height of the lawnmower before resuming.
You have to also check the spark plug as it can be the cause of the problem in such a case. You can use the igniter in order to check the performance of the engine and the status of the spark plug.
Smoke from the lawnmower:
I once had a similar problem on my Ariens lawn tractor but simply rectified it by buying a John Deere D105. I do realise though that buying a new lawn tractor may not be the best option for you!
Many people are alarmed by this problem. In most of the cases, it is not that serious. In many cases, this problem occurs right after the service. The reason is that the oil compartment of the lawn mower is filled to the brim.
Also, it can be a result of a leakage of oil. It is especially witnessed when lawnmower is working on an uneven terrain.
Both of these problems can be sorted quite easily.
The next time around, you are facing any of these problems; you will be able to exactly figure out what is the cause of these problems.
Most of these problems can be solved by you.
n most of the cases, it will just take you 10 minutes to 20 minutes in order to fix these problems and move ahead.
